There is a flaw in the engineering design of the most commonly used MC4 in-line fuse holders in most solar charging systems in Campers, RVs, DIY Overland Systems, and other residential and commercial solar applications.

The internal design of practically every MC4 Solar Connector, including brands such as Slocable (which ships with Renogy products) and Amazon reseller's 20A and 30A In-line Fuse Holders don't create a good enough seat between the fuse holder and the fuse inside, which creates a lot of excessive heat. In my application, it only melted the fuse holder and ruined one MC4 connector harness, but it was on the roof and well-ventilated. If your in-line fuse holder is inside, check it often to mitigate any fire risk and if needed replace it with the Staubli MC4 In-line Fuse Holder.

Why only Stäubli? They are the ONLY manufacturer of an in-line fuse holder that's engineered internally to pinch the fuse and create a stronger and more reliable connection, which mitigates the heat generated by a poor contact.
