Maggie & Me: from Page to Stage

Описание к видео Maggie & Me: from Page to Stage

'Maggie & Me’ author Damian Barr talks about the theatrical adaptation of his book with Chitra Ramaswamy.

Published in 2013, ‘Maggie & Me’ is Damian Barr’s celebrated memoir about growing up gay in Margaret Thatcher’s Britain. From the furnaces of the Ravenscraig Steelworks to the sanctuary of Carfin Grotto, there’s pain and joy, coming of age and coming out, and the powerful spectre of Margaret Thatcher.

This event accompanies the world premiere and tour of the National Theatre of Scotland’s production of ‘Maggie & Me’ in May & June 2024.

In conversation with Chitra Ramaswamy, Damian will discuss the collaborative process of transforming his deeply personal memoir into a bold and explosive production for the stage, working with playwright James Ley and director Suba Das.

This event is part of the National Library of Scotland’s Pride Month programme.
