The shooting is one of 191 overt acts that support the RICO conspiracy charge against Young Thug and his five co-defendants: Shannon Stillwell, Marquavius Huey, Quamarvious Nichols, Deamonte “Yak Gotti” Kendrick and Rodalius Ryan.

Winfrey is a former tour manager for Bryan “Birdman” Williams. He’s charged in the same RICO conspiracy indictment as the trial defendants and is currently in the Fulton County Jail. His case was severed and he will not be testifying in trial, but his plea in the bus shooting could be introduced as evidence by prosecutors. Young Thug's lawyer Brian Steel is trying to stop that because Thug, legal name Jeffery Williams, is named in the plea. Steel wants to make sure the jury doesn't hear that.
