The Bill Charlap Trio was formed in 1997 with bassist Peter Washington and drummer Kenny Washington and is recognized as one of the leading groups in jazz. The trio received three Grammy Award nominations, for Somewhere: The Songs of Leonard Bernstein, The Bill Charlap Trio: Live at the Village Vanguard, and most recently Uptown Downtown (available as a CD or downloadable audio). Charlap’s collaboration with Tony Bennett, The Silver Lining: The Songs of Jerome Kern won the 2016 Grammy Award for Best Traditional Pop Vocal Album.
