Why Jesus called religious people blind
while calling sinners lost.

At first, that felt backwards.

Sinners were doing the wrong things.
Religious people were doing the right ones.

So why the harsher words
for the “holy”?

That’s when it hit me:

Lost people know they need directions.
Blind people think they already see.

“The tax collectors and prostitutes
are entering the kingdom of God ahead of you.”
→ (Matthew 21:31)

Not because they were better—
but because they were honest.

Sinners came exposed.
Aware of their distance.
Hungry for mercy.

Religious people came certain.
Certain of their rules.
Certain of their status.
Certain they didn’t need help.

“If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin;
but now that you claim you can see,
your guilt remains.”
→ (John 9:41)

That’s the difference Jesus exposed:

Lostness invites rescue.
Blindness resists it.

Modern faith still confuses the two.

We mistake knowledge for vision.
Activity for intimacy.
Reputation for repentance.

We build lives around God
without ever surrendering to Him.

Jesus never shamed weakness.
He confronted pretense.

Because sinners can repent.
But people convinced they’re right
never ask for healing.

So if Jesus’ words ever feel sharp—
if Scripture unsettles you
more than it soothes—

Maybe it’s not condemnation.

Maybe it’s the first moment
you’re actually seeing.

Type “Open my eyes”
if you’d rather be lost and found
than certain and blind.
