Описание к видео 🎙 Connecting Faith and Science to Solve the Climate Crisis with Katharine Hayhoe

Evangelical scientist Katharine Hayhoe explains to ‪@KateTucker‬ connecting faith and science can help us solve the climate crisis with compassion and hope.

🎙 Hope Is My Middle Name season 4, episode 1 - Connecting Faith and Science to Solve the Climate Crisis with Katharine Hayhoe

Climate scientist and evangelical Christian Katharine Hayhoe is not attempting to save the planet, she’s attempting to save us from the devastating impacts of climate change. As a scientist, Katharine knows that the earth will adapt to global warming, but the conditions, if left unchecked, will ultimately lead to extinction. And since the effects of climate change are already being felt the most by those who have contributed the least to the problem, Katharine views solving the climate crisis as a mandate from God – to love our neighbors and to care for God’s creation.

I read Katharine's book, Saving Us a Climate Scientist Case for Hope and Healing in a Divided World, and in it she quotes Saint Augustine saying, “Hope has two beautiful daughters; Their names are Anger and Courage. Anger at the way things are, and Courage to see that they do not remain as they are.” In her book, in her life, in her work, Katharine invites all of us to walk in that courage to a place of real hope.

Chief Scientist at the Nature Conservancy and Professor at Texas Tech, Katharine Hayhoe has devoted her life to helping people of all backgrounds and faiths better understand, address, and combat climate change with compassion and optimism. Join us for a joyful conversation on the power of science and faith joining forces to solve the climate crisis.
