Ryan was just 13 months old when a mild cold turned into a fight for his life with sepsis.

Today is World Sepsis Day (September 13), and we’re sharing Ryan’s story to raise awareness of this life-threatening condition and remind parents the importance of knowing the signs and seeking help immediately if you think something is wrong.

Remember, the symptoms of sepsis can vary, but some red flags in children may include:
🚨 A lot of pain or very restless
🚨 Fast breathing or long pauses in breathing
🚨 Very blotchy, blue or pale skin
🚨 Drowsy, difficult to wake up, confused
🚨 Floppy
🚨 Feels abnormally cold to the touch
🚨 Fit (seizure)
🚨 Rash that doesn’t fade when pressed.
