New DJ Build Your Old Skool Music Collection Fast and well!
Having received a number of questions asking how is the best way for a new DJ’s to build their old skool DJ music collections up with tunes from the 80’s 90’s and 00’s I decided it would be a good idea to produce a video purely on the subject of DJ Music.
Your first option is to try and obtain a collection of compilation CD’s, that way you will build up a catalogue of hits from the decades you are after, The Now! albums or a 100 hits of collections could be a quick and easy way to achieve that. Ebay is a good place to find collections that people are selling off. When I did a quick search for Now! CD Collection plenty of choice came up although some of the costs were a bit more than I expected to see! An advantage of the versions that are on the Now! albums are they are always the clean versions of tunes so if your DJing family parties you know you are safe!
If you do want those DJ Versions so you can become the DJ Mixing God that is your destiny then you need to go to a supplier who sells to DJ’s only and provides collections designed for DJ’s, there are a few options available off the shelf (well download) as such actual that are perfect for starter DJ’s who want’s to be able to provide that ‘in the mix’ experience and still have the old skool sounds, they even do specialist DJ versions of 80s, 90s, 00s, Soul and Motown classics. A website to go and try is called mastermixdj.com Once on the site click on Unmixed and select DJ beats from the drop down menu, you will see they have 90 albums available in that collection! The good news is they do bundled deals from an 80 album deal, 20 Album deals and two for one promotions and they also have DJ Bests 100 hits of 70s, 80s and 90s.
At time of recording I reached out to master mix via email and on their Facebook and asked if they had a promo code available for you my subscribers, the great news is they sent one back and it is YT10 giving 10% off. (If you use the code MMSS20 up to the end of April 2020 you can get 50% off!)
This video’s shout out is to DJ Rob Mulliner, Rob is a proper old school DJ who still has his Technics turntables in his lounge, recently he has been doing live vinyl sets on his channel so be sure to pop along and check some of them out and say hi from me in the comments! If you love 90s Dance you will love his sets. He has worked with the likes of Rozalla, Urban Cookie Collective, Dream and NTrance to name a few!
