The story of Araku Valley Coffee is deeply intertwined with the Girijan Cooperative Corporation, an organisation established in 1956 to uplift Adivasi communities in the undivided Andhra Pradesh. Recognising coffee’s potential as a sustainable alternative to traditional shifting cultivation, the GCC launched coffee cultivation programmes in the Araku Valley in the early 1970s with the help of the Coffee Board. These initiatives were a turning point, offering stability and prosperity. The quality and
organic nature of Araku Valley Coffee have garnered significant accolades. The coffee has caught the eyeballs of coffee lovers and traders from India and abroad.

In 2019, Araku Valley Arabica was awarded the prestigious GI tag, a recognition that boosted its global standing and gave it premium pricing.
