In this clip from the Medical Trauma Support Podcast, I spoke with Dr. Laura Vater about how sleep deprivation impacts empathy. This decrease in empathy can impact how a medical professional engages with someone in pain and whether or not they offer medication. The medical system should be taking good care of the practitioners working and that will have a positive impact on patients. We are all human and will need medical care at some point, we want our care providers cared for so they can show up for us in compassionate and empathetic ways.
