“A Fool, A Fool, I Met a Fool” by Burton Cummings

This may be the best Burton Cummings song you’ve never heard. “A Fool, A Fool, I Met a Fool” was written as the title song for a film that was to have featured Burton in his acting debut back in 1974. Unfortunately, the project never came to be, but at least the music is forever. This demo version of the song, which features Garry Peterson on drums and Bill Wallace on bass, was only ever released as a bonus track on the Iconoclassic Records reissue of The Guess Who’s “Flavours” in 2011. “A Fool…” was also dusted off back in 1992, when it was featured on the setlists of a number of shows during Burton’s time on the “Ringo Starr & His All Starr Band” tour that year.
