Well, this is something different for us. I’m always the one filming our patients, but this is the first time I’ve had to document the journey of someone I know so well – my boss, Irina.

Irina isn’t just my boss – she’s someone I share a workspace with every single day. She’s also one of the most empathetic and emotionally intelligent people I know. It’s no wonder she’s been so well-loved for over 24 years. A steady stream of people came to her clinic room to wish her a speedy recovery and check on her progress.

True to her humble nature, Irina didn’t tell many people she was having surgery, so some jokingly gave her a piece of their mind. But ultimately, they all just wanted to make sure she was cared for.

A huge thank you goes to Irina’s orthopaedic surgeon, Dr Gintautas Pocius, and his operating theatre team, including anaesthetist Ramūnas Tamošiūnas, PhD, and all the nurses, anaesthetic staff, scrub nurses, and physiotherapists (Vainius Petrauskas, Petras Mikučionis), Head of the Outpatient Rehabilitation Centre - Dr Vytenis Trumpickas, PhD, rehabilitologist Dr Gitalija Marozienė, #TeamGijos administration workers and, of course, to Irina’s husband, Vaidas, who took care of her after the surgery was done.
