Actuator rebuild - Mini R53 door locks not working right?

If your 2002-2006 mini won't lock or unlock from the remote key, a replacement door lock actuator is often recommended. These are very expensive as a new unit from BMW. They are non-serviceable parts, and for some of us, such words are as good as a formal challenge. Can it be brought back to life? Hopefully this video will help you decide if it's worth your precious time.

NOTE: if you can NOT get the actuator back together, you won't be able to close the car door at all. Many steps where this can go wrong. Also watch hands - try to secure items in a vice as you will be applying a large force with sharp tools - don't want your fingers in the way - ouch!

Countersunk screw I used was M5 x 25mm. Have a scrounge in those odd nuts and bolts that you've got lying around.
