Stara Fužina, Bohinj, Slovenia ~ 4K Virtual Walk

Stara Fužina is a village in the Municipality of Bohinj. It is a typical alpine village with preserved old farmhouses, which are still known by their old family/house names.
It's location near Lake Bohinj makes it a great starting point for discovering the beauty of Bohinj Valley.

The settlement dates back into the 7th century B.C. Thanks to rich locations of high quality iron ore, the Julian aps were a very important strategic area for almost 3.000 years. Stara Fužina (''Old Iron Foundry'' in English) was, as the name suggests, known for its iron industry. The production and trade of iron was active until the 19th century, when it was relocated to Jesenice. Bohinjci (the inhabitants of Bohinj) therefore turned their focus to farming, forestry and tourism.

Interesting tourist attractions include Zois's manor, the Devil's bridge, Planšarski muzej (old cheese factory converted into a museum), Restaurant Planšar (where you can try out delicious dairy products and other typical snacks of Bohinj cuisine), the Church of St. Pavel, and many more!
