Dr. Dani Arias-Rotondo (Kalamazoo College): "Photoredox Catalysis"

Описание к видео Dr. Dani Arias-Rotondo (Kalamazoo College): "Photoredox Catalysis"

Photoredox Catalysis uses photoactive coordination complexes of transition metals to catalyze organic reactions. This strategy has enabled previously elusive transformations, opening the door to new bond disconnections and functionalizations. In the past decade or so, photoredox catalysis has been extensively studied by organic chemists around the world; the majority of these efforts is focused on the development of new synthetic methods. In-depth mechanistic studies, however, have somewhat lagged behind. This talk includes part of my work in photoredox catalysis (from the point of view of an inorganic chemist). I will also summarize some projects that go beyond method development, highlighting collaborative work by groups that integrate other branches of chemistry.
