New Ukulele? Do this!

Описание к видео New Ukulele? Do this!

I've not been playing much lately but I did get a new ukulele, so this is just a quick video on what I tend to check when I get a new ukulele. These tips will also help you when you're buying a new ukulele.

1. Take a good look at it
Have a really good look at the ukulele, make sure there are no gaps anywhere. Specifically, look at where the fretboard meets the neck, the bridge and saddle, the nut. Check the tuning pegs, have a look inside and examine the body really well for any cracks or issues.

2. Tune it up
Get it in tune. This is another opportunity to test the tuning pegs and make sure they turn well and don't slip. When you tune your ukulele it's highly likely to quickly go back out of tune. You'll need to keep tuning it regularly to begin with. If it's still falling out of tune after a week or so and you've been playing it a lot that could indicate a problem.

3. Check every fret
Fret every single note and make sure they ring true and there are no dead frets. This is 100% worth doing, even if you don't venture up the fretboard too much. Doing this now will make sure you don't get any nasty surprises much further down the line.

That should be it. If you do spot any issues when checking the above it's worth contacting the shop that you bought your ukulele from to see if they can advise.
