Who are you? An Introvert or an Extrovert?

There are a lot of myths surrounding the concept of introverts versus extroverts — one of the main ones that it’s an “either-or” situation.

You’re either an extrovert or an introvert. End of story.
But the reality is a bit more complicated.

Extroversion and introversion live on two opposite ends of a spectrum. The way you get and put out energy helps determine where you fall on this spectrum. But you can fall anywhere on this spectrum, not necessarily at one end or the other.

The other huge myth? Introverts are shy and extroverts are outgoing.

Extroverts are outgoing and introverts are shy, right? Not exactly. Truly understanding each personality type–and which one you are–can help you manage a vast range of experiences.

This concept further explains that “people sometimes assume introverts always have social anxiety or dislike being around others while extroverts are always loud, aggressive, and boisterous.”

Here’s a more realistic look at what the extrovert-introvert spectrum looks like and why one end isn’t any better or worse than the other.

They say that opposites attract, and that’s usually true for introvert-extrovert couples.

We all have that one friend who can strike up a conversation with anyone, who does well in large groups, and who loves being around people. On the other hand, we also know those who prefer quiet one-on-one activities with friends, like visiting a museum or watching a movie, when they socialize.

In couples, these personality types tend to balance each other out instead of competing with each other, but what is the correct terminology to describe these traits?
