Welcome iXblue! To discover the power behind our latest OPTICA member, let us zoom to their amazing campus just outside Paris.

iXBlue is rapidly building a dynamic photonics campus, using the Optica principle of identifying the synergy between different teams - and then taking action to maximise the commercial advantage.

Its photonics division has earned an excellent international reputation for ultra-fast optical modulators based on lithium niobate technology as well as in the field of speciality optical fibres. Among other challenges, they’ve developed space-qualified products, hardening the components to withstand the harshness of outer space.

iXblue is now on track to become a strong European player in industrial quantum technologies, delivering advanced navigation and maritime autonomy solutions.

Then in 2021, they acquired Muquans and KYLIA.

Muquans is the first quantum sensor company to commercialize a compact and transportable cold atom gravitometer. And you’ll find one, deployed and operational in volcanoes like Mount Edna. They use it for continuous monitoring of volcanic activity.

So this new ixblue acquisition offers Quantum Gravity Gradiometers and Atomic clocks plus a new generation of agile intelligent laser systems for Quantum Computing and QKD.

As for Kylia, this company is internationally recognized for integrating complex photonics functions using an ultra-precise assembly of free-space optical components.

Kylia’s portfolio offers an extended range of wavelength filters for telecom applications, but also a wide variety of optical delay lines and Interferometers.

All these photonics solutions combined give iXblue a much broader range of applications in its portfolio: including precise distance measurements, automotive LIDAR, high-power scientific lasers, laser communications in space, time-frequency solutions, and Quantum Key Distribution.

iXblue is certainly a dynamic company that should be on everyone’s radar.
