Only three coaches have led Borussia Dortmund to a Champions League final: Ottmar Hitzfeld in 1997, Jürgen Klopp in 2013, and most recently Edin Terzić in 2024. Certainly esteemed company for Terzic, who is regarded as one of the brightest young head coaches in football. And he needed all of his wits about him, to guide his team through a succession of challenging ties in the 2023/24 Champions League campaign, to reach a Wembley final against Real Madrid.

Now, in this exclusive two-part Coaches’ Voice Masterclass, Terzić has explained the tactics behind Dortmund’s highly impressive home and away wins over Paris Saint-Germain in the semi final. In part one, he discussed the team selections of both teams in the first leg, plus the mentality Dortmund took into the tie, and their out-of-possession approach against a very dangerous PSG attack.

Here, in part two, he covers Dortmund’s in-possession tactics in brilliant detail, including the different shapes they prepared to enable them good ball possession, as well as the areas they looked to exploit and attack against PSG.
