Over the weekend, the Israel Defense Force reported that six hostages, abducted by Hamas on Oct. 7, 2023, were “brutally” murdered. Their bodies were found in a Hamas tunnel network under the city of Rafah in southern Gaza.

Among those killed was 23-year-old Israeli-American Hersh Goldberg-Polin, whose parents’ spoke at the Democratic National Convention in Chicago last month.

Both President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris released separate statements following the horrific discovery.

Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre fields questions from reporters behind the White House podium for the first time since learning about the deaths of the hostages.
