Day 24 - Ogimachi

We continued our frantic travel pace and stopped by Ogimachi, a small farming village which is also registered as a world heritage site. It is a beautiful area and, unlike Sapporo, the streets were not covered in snow and ice, making it easy to move around.

Several highlights of this village includes the Historical Village and the Lookout Point. The pedestrian path to the Lookout Point was cordoned off due to snow, so we had to walk along the highway to reach there. It was a wonderful view of the town. I would love to return sometime in the future to have a look at the village when the rice fields are not covered in snow.

We stayed the night at Kanja, one of the traditional farmhouses in the area. As it was winter, they used a gasoline lamp to warm up the rooms. Unfortunately the gasoline lamp made me feel a bit sick so we had to turn it off. I was surprised however that the room was still quite warm afterwards. The dinner was fantastic and the rooms were very cozy. While not highly ranked compared to some of the other farmhouses in the area, it was still a nice place to stay and I would recommend it to others.
