What is Combustion?- It is the basic chemical process of releasing energy from a fuel and air mixture. Burning of Wood or Coal, and Using Natural Gas or LPG to cook etc are some examples of combustion.

The formula for Combustion reaction- Hydrocarbon + Oxygen = Heat energy

Types of combustion- Rapid, Explosion, Spontaneous, Complete and incomplete combustion.

Essential things for the combustion process- Fuel to burn, Air to supply oxygen and Heat. Oxygen, heat, and fuel are referred to as the fire triangle.

What is Flame?- A flame is the visible part of a fire. It is the result of an exothermic reaction which gives heat and light.

Candle flame zones- A candle flame consists of three different zones.
The outer or non luminous zone: Due to complete combustion, the outer zone is blue and the hottest one.
The middle or luminous zone: The yellow colored region which is the bright part of the flame is the middle zone and it's moderately hot.
The inner or dark zone: The inner zone is dark and mostly consists of unburnt vapors of wax.
