Sunshine and 70s typically go hand-in-hand in September around Northeast Wisconsin. But so far this September, that hasn't been the case.

Especially if you were, say, camping up in the Northwoods for most of the past week.

It has felt much more like fall than summer so far this month. The first eight days of September had an average temperature of just 55.6 degrees.

That is the coldest start to a September on record in Green Bay. It's nearly 10 degrees below what we should have seen over that stretch.

We don't typically see an average temperature that cool until the very tail end of the month -- September 29. That's about a week after fall starts.

The coolest single day of the month so far was Sept. 4, with an average temperature of just 51 degrees. We usually don't see that until Oct. 10.

Moving forward, the forecast does at least look much warmer for the time being. But this first little taste of fall is a gentle reminder of what's just around the corner.
