Band members revealed the history of this community band going back to the 1940s. A precursor was the Morrison band going back much earlier in the twentieth century. The Morrison band would perform Saturday nights on the courthouse lawn. Their repertoire featured John Philips Souza marches. My grandfather, David Edward Frick, played trombone and was assistant to the director.

Hats off to the Village Idiots for their fine entertainment and community service. They can be found playing at the Memorial Park in Ottawa in the coming weeks at the Legion baseball tournament. I believe the series is on Friday nights.
