How do we manage to get gas from the English mainland to the Isle of Wight?

In 2013, we embarked on a major engineering project to replace the old, existing undersea gas pipes between the English mainland and the Isle of Wight.

In a world record drilling operation, we’ve laid 3.8km of gas mains underneath the Solent seabed. After four years of planning, 18 months of construction and a £21 million investment, we’re able to provide a continued safe and reliable supply to the island’s 51,000 gas customers for many years to come.
