Lynchburg Town - Clawhammer Banjo

Описание к видео Lynchburg Town - Clawhammer Banjo

After posting Oh! Susanna last Tuesday, here is another Minstrel song (much lesser known) called Lynchburg Town. This tune is thought to have African-American origins and has had many iterations and versions over the years. "The Original Lynchburg Town" was written by Frank Spencer and published in 1848.

This is definitely a fun song! My arrangement is loosely based on Wayne Erbsen's version published in his book "Clawhammer Banjo for the Complete Ignoramus", which is also how I came to discover this song.

I wanted to take a moment to say that whenever I purchased this beautiful banjo from a very kind gentleman, he told me that he was happy to see that it would be used for older music. He told me that he hoped I'd use it to help keep the music alive. I'm so thankful that I get to share and grow with viewers like y'all. I just wanted to take a moment to thank y'all for helping me hit nearly 100 subscribers and for helping me play a small part in that mission to keep this incredible music alive and thriving! I couldn't do it without y'all!

Recorded with my Gold Tone WL-250 tuned to Double-C +2 (aDADE).
