More than half of Korea's stock rich have become wealthy by inheritance,... making the phenomenon more prominent than in other countries.
According to CEO Score's analysis of 160 of the top stockholders in Korea, Japan, the U.S. and China, 40 people from each country, 70 percent on the list were self-made entrepreneurs and the remaining 30 percent were heirs.
Among Korea's stock rich, 62-point-five percent were the beneficiaries of inherited wealth.
This compares to 25 percent in the U.S., 30 percent in Japan and two-point-five percent in China.
The size of the assets owned by those who built their wealth on their own rose 142-point-five percent from 525-point-nine billion U.S. dollars in 2007 to one-point-three trillion dollars in 2017.
For heirs, the corresponding figure rose nearly 35 percent from 292-point-three billion dollars to 392-point-two billion over the period.
