Jaundice is a yellow discoloration of skin and mucosa due to excessive accumulation of bilirubin.
Normal bilirubin level is 0.8 to 1.2 mg/dl.
Hyperbilirubinemia when levels are more than 2mg/dl.
Jaundice appears when the bilirubin level is more than 2.5 mg/dl.
Types of Jaundice
1. Pre-hepatic or hemolytic Jaundice
2. Hepatic or hepatocellular Jaundice
3. Post hepatic or obstructive Jaundice
Types of bilirubin
1.Unconjugated bilirubin 0.9 mg/dl
2.Conjugated bilirubin 0.3 mg / dl
