Leading educationists have supported the need to review the current government university scholarship policy, which appears to favour the privileged against the less privileged students, flying in the face of the intention of the scheme in the first place. Most of the stakeholders NTV spoke to agreed that the current policy benefits students from well-to-do families and therefore made a raft of proposals, such as widening the students' higher education loan scheme and an improvement of the district quota admissions.
