Storm chaser Reed Timmer documents a flash flood caused by a 1-in-10 year rainfall event in Greenville, South Carolina from storms training over the same area. These storms were fueled by an incredible warm Gulf of Mexico, with a blob of 70-75F dew points dominating the entire Gulf. This storm system produced tornadoes as well. Over 4" of rainfall was measured in Greenville which has been identified as a 1-in-10 year recurrence interval at this location.

Meanwhile, a powerful atmospheric river event is hammering California with flooding rainfall. Double digit rainfall totals are expected over the next week. Debris flows are likely off the wildfire burn scars. A major river flood event is developing in California especially in the mountainous areas where orographic lift is favored.

Flood chase mode has been activated.
