3 Changes to Pirates of the Caribbean

Описание к видео 3 Changes to Pirates of the Caribbean

Technically the “walk the plank” concept was in the movie Peter Pan (1953) before Pirates of the Caribbean was imagined in the late 1960s, so you could say that Pirates was partially inspired by that… but it’s much more likely that the idea of having the pirates walk the plank came from Marc Davis’s research into real-life pirates during development of the attraction, as there were several in the 1700s/1800s who were notorious for using this particular method for doing away with their victims 🏴‍☠️

(Side note: the Walk the Plank scene in the Peter Pan attraction is also in Disneyland’s version, but it was in Disney World’s version first and then brought over to Disneyland)

And I know we all LOVE the idea of a secret “real” skull left on the headboard in the Captain’s Quarters, but the official reports from Disney have stated that all the remains have all been laid to rest. Whether or not that is the truth of the matter, we may never know 🤷‍♀️
