This may be the most exciting app update I have seen this year. ADVA Soft app Touch Retouch has for a very long time been the industry leader for removing objects in your smartphone photos.
NOW... in version 5.0, the app has a brand new intuitive, user-friendly interface and some brand new tools and features.
Most of the time, we check the background as we set up the photo. Sometimes we do not have the luxury of time or the desire to stage the photo. These distractions can attract and direct the viewers' attention away from your photographic intention. This can change the storytelling narrative, the whole look and feel of the photo.
Many, many of those professional images that you admire have had objects removed as part of the photo editing process. Photographers refer to this process as cleaning the image.
You are a visual storyteller, not a photojournalist. You are not bound by the absolute truth of what is recorded in front of you. When editing an image, you are re-creating the authenticity of the intention of the photo. What motivated you to take the photo was not the distracting elements in the image. A busy, cluttered image looks like a snapshot and makes it harder for you to isolate the subject and easier for the viewer to interpret.
If it does not add value to the story, composition or context, you can remove it.
In addition to distracting items, this process is great for repairing photos that contain imperfections due to the phone camera or the capture technique. This could include blotchy, grainy sections of a photo, unwanted sun flare, motion blur or a bald spot!
