This video required two days on the ice! Both days I attempted to sight fish these splake in shallow water and both days the fish were found to be in deeper water. I really wanted to make a #sightfishing video but got little action in the shelter. At least I was able to get several fish on the ice. Fortunately Bold Lake in NW Ontario is right in my backyard and I have many chances every winter to ice fish this body of water.

I do hit this lake every winter since its so close. I'll get more chances to make a good sight fishing video for splake in the future. Any way we can catch them is great. They are such a beautiful fish. I do catch and release these hybrids most of the time. I am not a big fan of cooking and eating trout but I love catching them!
