As the second most common male cancer in the world, roughly 1.3 million people receive a prostate cancer diagnosis each year. In its early stages, prostate cancer is highly treatable, but when advanced, effective treatments are limited. That’s where cancer immunotherapy offers new hope. Ana Aparicio is an associate professor at MD Anderson Cancer Center’s Department of Genitourinary Medical Oncology, who specializes in the treatment of advanced prostate cancer. Her clinical and translational research focuses on the development of novel therapies for a subset of aggressive prostate cancer.
