A roadmap has been laid out for the future of public housing in Singapore, which includes amenities to encourage healthy living. HDB residents will also be able to decide how to design and use some common areas. Deputy Prime Minister Heng Swee Keat launched the Designing for Life roadmap on Oct 15. Technology will also be increasingly incorporated. Smart meters, for instance, will let residents monitor their energy use, while estate-wide innovations like solar panels and centralised cooling systems will boost sustainability.
