🔴 High Court Orders FIR Against Two Doctors in Bengaluru | One from Fortis Hospital

In a significant legal development, the Karnataka High Court has ordered the registration of an FIR against two doctors, one of whom is associated with Fortis Hospital, Bengaluru. The case pertains to alleged medical negligence that reportedly led to the death of a woman during a plastic surgery procedure.

The court passed this order on 25th June 2025, in response to a petition filed by the victim’s husband, Mr. Devanand, who claimed that despite filing a complaint with the police, no action had been taken against the doctors. The incident occurred at a private hospital where his wife underwent a cosmetic surgery that allegedly went wrong due to negligence.

According to the court's observation, there appeared to be a prima facie case of medical negligence, and the delay by the police in taking action was unjustified. Justice M. Nagaprasanna, who presided over the case, strongly criticized the inaction and stated that when a patient loses their life due to negligent medical treatment, it cannot be ignored as a mere medical error.

He directed the Kengeri and Nagarabhavi police officials to immediately register an FIR and initiate a proper investigation into the incident. The court emphasized the accountability of medical professionals and noted that justice must prevail in cases involving human life.

This order has created ripples in the medical and legal communities, raising serious questions about hospital accountability, the role of police, and the rights of patients and their families.
