Educational objectives and description of class: Participants will learn about Sacramento County Environmental Management Department's (EMD) new electronic cross-connection control program web portal (Portal). The presentation will review why the portal was needed, the portal development and implementation process, and parallel program efficiency upgrades that have reduced program costs. A portal demonstration will be part of the training with a focus on how different user types benefit from the online platform.

Anticipated educational outcomes for this course: Participants will learn about the development and implementation aspects of the cross-connection web portal, lessons learned in transitioning to the portal, and practical changes they can make to streamline their existing cross-connection program.

Presenter Bio: Chris Hunley is an Environmental Specialist with the Sacramento County Environmental Management Department. Currently, he administers the department's cross-connection control program on behalf of 10 public water supply agencies, and provides regulatory compliance oversight for local recycled water users. He has 12 years of experience with the County of Sacramento including working in the Water Resources, Agricultural Commissioner, and Environmental Management Departments. Chris holds a Bachelor's Degree in Biological Sciences and is a Cal-Nev AWWA certified backflow tester and cross-connection control specialist.
