8 on a Hand is the very first exercise I teach all of my beginning students. It consists of a sequence of 8 rights, 8 lefts, 4 rights, 4 lefts, 2 rights, 2 lefts, 2 rights, 2 lefts, then 8 alternating right and left hands, like this:

Here is the challenge: Starting at 40 bpm, play the "8 on a Hand" exercise gradually increasing your speed with the metronome. Can you make it all the way to 400 bpm? If not how fast can you go? Let me know in the comments!

For an additional challenge increase the speed of the video (by clicking on the gear icon) and see how long you can stay with the metronome.

Also - The metronome app I am using is "Tempo" http://www.frozenape.com/tempo-metron... Using the Automator function on the app allows the user to easily program the metronome to increase the tempo in small increments. For this video, I've programmed the metronome to increase 3 bpm every 1 measure.
