Wild camping on a Bronze Age hill fort.

I planned on taking Freddy to camp on Carl Wark last week. It looked an easy walk and he is always eager to go when I pick up my backpack. It was a disaster! It was raining when I got there, so I detoured into Hathersage and called in for a coffee at the Outside store. It was a great surprise that my good mate Gav was already there and we could have stopped and talked all week!
The weather was still poor so I changed plans slightly and picked the car park near Higger Tor as a starting point. We needed water so I walked down to the brook where Freddy immediately fell in! I think he saw the brown water as being solid so just carried on walking. He was flapping like mad, and eventually got out, where he fell straight in the next pool! He was very stressed and with the weather deteriorating I decided to go home.
Luckily I had another chance this week, so headed to the Surprise View Car Park and walked over.
It was really quiet and I had a great camp.
