🇫🇷 Pour son troisième LP, Degiheugi, producteur fort productif, revient avec une magnifique galette fort bien foutue. Véritable travail d’orfèvre, The broken symphony est un pur bijou. Entre rap, trip-hop et electro, Degiheugi est cette fois-ci accompagné du rappeur Ghostown, de la chanteuse Nawelle et du talentueux bidouilleur L’omelette, déjà présent sur son précédent opus Only after the show.
Produit sous licence Creative Commons et disponible sur le site de Degiheugi en téléchargement légal, The broken symphony est composé d’assemblages et de bricolages sonores en tous genres rappelant un certain Wax Tailor, voir Morcheeba sur l’excellent « Mes nuits tziganes ». Mais arrêtons-là les comparaisons rapides. The broken symphony s’écoute une fois, puis deux et puis ça devient quasi obsessionnel. Les inspirations sont nombreuses, provenant autant du funk, du jazz que de la musique classique ou des musiques de films (Morricone…). On est submergé par des atmosphères hypnotiques, des océans de couleurs et des sentiments bien réels. Des flots d’histoires qui sollicitent incessamment l’imaginaire tant la richesse musicale et la qualité de la production sont soignées. Très cohérente, cette « symphonie brisée » est traversée par un même souffle, un spleen mélancolique… Les couleurs sont sombres certes, mais taillées dans le meilleur velours : chaud et moiré. 🇬🇧 From 2001, Degiheugi (D.J.E.J) consumed LPs and made the decks roar in a rap band. But the sphere of classical hip-hop quickly becomes cramped to handle the influx of ideas endlessly irrigating its right hemisphere. Collector of sounds, explorer of the ideal sample, Degiheugi sets off to unearth still raw nuggets, slumbering in the abysses of the internet and under the dust of vinyls marking the past decades. He is reinventing the art of fusing these sound particles to give them a second life with atomic radiation.

Impregnated with 5-star featurings and beats with a goldsmith's groove, these dazzling patchworks expand the magnetic field of trip-hop codes, and reveal chemically pure music, full of soul reflections, electronic spleen and melodic flashes.

After 7 essential albums and 2 EPs, all celebrated by the growing ranks of his followers, this shadowy beatmaker took the stage in 2015. From Europe to Australia, from DJ Shadow's opening acts to joint stages with Chill Bump, Smokey Joe & the Kid or ProleteR, his performances combine sound and video for a powerful and immersive live experience.

On April 23, 2021, Degiheugi present his 8th album "Foreglow"with multiple influences, ranging from samba to Afrobeat through soul and French chanson.

After having reissued on vinyl the 8 albums composing his discography, French beatmaker Degiheugi presents his new project "Remixed Treasures" on April 21, 2023. It is the first remixed album in the producer’s career.
A project that bears its name well. Like seabed adventurers, the remixers have been asked to rework in their own way some of the most significant tracks of a career spanning more than 20 years. Starring L'Orange, Moderator, Souleance, iZem, The Architect, Senbei, Al Tarba, Mounika, DJ Vadim, La Fine Equipe, Kognitif, ProleteR and Scratch Bandits Crew, the XXL cast of this impressive crossover melts genres (hip-hop, electro, ambient, drum & bass, jazz...) and brings together no less than 13 beatmakers from different scenes and generations.
