✏️ INTRO (0:00)

✏️ Use the past papers (0:07) - There are lots of past papers on the Cambridge Admissions Testing website, which you should practice in timed conditions. If you run out of papers, you can use BMAT section 1 papers as these are similar to section 1 of the TSA.

✏️Learn the different types of questions in Section 1 (0:38) - Have a look at our TSA Section 1 video, which breaks down all of the different question types and how to answer them.

✏️ Keep up with current affairs (0:59) - Keeping up with the news will help you to practice your critical thinking skills. This can also provide context for Section 2 questions, which are topical.

✏️ Do practice essays (1:30) - Section 2 requires you to write essays in 30 minutes. You should practice essays for this section in the format you will be taking the test - if it is handwritten, practice handwriting essays in timed conditions, and if it is computer based, practice by typing.

✏️ Use the practice computer test (1:54) - The TSA has moved to a computer based system. You can try the practice computer test to get an idea of what this will be like. NOTE: The TSA computer test has been scrapped, in 2022 the test will be handwritten as in previous years before COVID disruption.

✏️ Use the specimen test with explained answers (2:30) - Do the specimen paper and then review your answers using the explained answers provided. You can learn from the techniques and approaches in the explained answers and implement this going forward.

✏️ Use BMAT Section 1 past papers (3:10) - There is a finite number of TSA Section 1 past papers, so if you want more practice you can use BMAT Section 1 past papers that use the same type of questions.

✏️ Brush up on your maths skills (3:45) - You are not allowed a calculator in the exam, so make sure your mental maths skills are strong.

✏️ Don’t neglect the rest of your application during your TSA preparation (4:29) - The TSA is really important, but so is the rest of your application. Make sure you are still giving adequate attention to your personal statement, your UCAS application, and your A level predicted grades.

✏️ Prepare ahead of time (5:22) - If you are able, try to start your preparation a few months before the exam. The TSA is a skills based test and therefore requires adequate practice. Cramming last minute will not be effective.
