PCOD (Polycystic Ovarian Disease) and PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) are often confused, but they have distinct differences. PCOD involves multiple immature or partially mature cysts forming in the ovaries, leading to irregular periods but limited to ovarian issues. PCOS includes additional complications like hormonal imbalances, acne, hair loss, and excessive facial hair, making it a syndrome.

PCOD primarily causes irregular periods due to multiple cysts in the ovaries. PCOS, on the other hand, includes more severe symptoms such as excessive facial hair, acne, hair fall, and missed periods for several months, indicating a hormonal disturbance.

Allopathic treatment often involves hormonal pills and multivitamins to balance hormone levels and initiate bleeding. However, these treatments may not address the root cause, and symptoms can return once medication is stopped. You can also do some alternative treatment like lifestyle changes such as weight control, reducing sugar and dairy intake, avoiding non-vegetarian and fried foods, and incorporating a balanced diet rich in protein, fiber, and fruits, along with regular exercise.

Maintaining a healthy weight and following a balanced diet can help manage PCOD and PCOS naturally. You can also seeking personalized advice and treatment for managing these conditions without becoming dependent on medication.
