My first run down a beautiful 17+ mile whitewater (American Whitewater Class II-III rated; running 7.5 feet today) remote wilderness section of West Virginia's Bluestone National Scenic River. The run ends in West Virginia's Pipestem Resort State Park, where an aerial tram is available to lift paddlers and their kayaks or canoes out of the 1,067 feet deep Bluestone gorge. We viewed lots of wood ducks, and stirred up two separate large bald eagles leaving their roosts in trees along the river, as we paddled down.
