Описание к видео 2014 Chevrolet Corvette to debut in January - Autoweek TV with Jake Lingeman

Also in this episode: The DeltaWing race car flips out at Road Atlanta, and a rough European economy opens up options for American BMW buyers.

-- The official striptease for the new Corvette gets started.

-- The DeltaWing race car gets roughed up at Road Atlanta.

-- And your local BMW dealer is likely to have more cars.

Yes, Jake is back again today for another dose of Autoweek TV. I mean, really, where is everyone this week? Anyway, here's what's in the news:

Circle January 13, 2013, on your calendar, car fans. That's the day that Chevrolet will officially reveal the redesigned seventh-generation Corvette. To start warming us up for the big event, Chevy today showed us was the new Crossed Flag emblem looks like. GM design chief Ed Welburn says the new emblem is more technical and modern, just like the C7 Corvette.

But if you were thinking of grabbing one of the last C6 Vettes, such as the intoxicating 427 convertible, get moving. Chevy told dealers that it stops accepting guaranteed orders for the 2013 Vette at the end of this month. The Bowling Green plant will keep building the 2013 Corvette until February. But then it shuts down for six months to retool for the 2014 model.

Nissan's plans to run the radical DeltaWing race car in this weekend's Petit Le Mans at Road Atlanta took a tumble on Wednesday. Reports from the track say a GT Challenge-class Porsche hit the DeltaWing during a practice session. The DeltaWing, with driver Gunnar Jeannette aboard, rolled and hit a wall. There's even in-car video of the crash available.

But the DeltaWing is one tough car. Highcroft Racing officials said they expected to get the car repaired and have it back on track for more practice today.
Details on the DeltaWing crash:

The Petit Le Mans runs on Saturday, starting at 1 p.m. Eastern.

Finally, if you're in the market for a new BMW, your local dealer might have an easier time finding the model and equipment mix you want. With car sales plunging in Europe due to stumbling economies, BMW has shifted tens of thousands of cars originally targeted for the Continent to U.S. and Asian markets.

The United States and China have been particularly good markets for BMW lately. In face, the Bavarian automaker is locked in a heated battle with traditional rival Mercedes-Benz for luxury car leadership here.

So if you've got the BMW itch, now might be a good time to scratch it.

And that's the news for today. Keep up with all the car and racing action at autoweek.com. And look for that new BMW at shopautoweek.com.

Someone -- maybe me -- will be back tomorrow. So until then, enjoy the drive.
