So today has been a total mess for the railways in North Germany, as the only intercity that ran today made an impressive run for a whopping whole, one station.... 😂 After that, the line went into disruption, the northbound intercities couldn't get through and the only remaining intercity had to return empty to Westerland.... This resulted in a very cool and peculiar irregularity however!

Where normally the northbound intercity splits up at Niebüll, and one to three carriages get coupled to a diesel multiple unit for Dagebüll, there was no intercity to comply. Instead, the nifty Germans decided to take off two carriages of the failed southbound IC, couple them to a freight and shunting locomotive, add a heat car at the rear and create a new "intercity" service for Dagebüll! I noticed this strange formation from the main platforms of Niebüll, and rushed over to the NEG platform to take a shot!

Even the driver found this to be so special, that he had to take a picture of his own train, as "he had never seen this ever before", in his own (but then ofcourse in German) words. 😂

It doesn't need any further explanation why I just hád to capture this! What a lucky coincidence! 😂🤩
