When Chris & Martina met in the Houston final in 1987, it ended with Evert winning 7-6 in the 3rd set. The expectation for a repeat thriller was high when they clashed again in the 1988 final. But this time Chrissie came into the match having won 2 of their last 3 matches in straight sets, so her confidence was also high, especially since none of the previous 3 matches had yet been on clay. The result surpassed even her own expectations however, with a resounding 6-0 6-4 triumph.
