Additions of Titanium and Aluminum  provide the ability to age harden with a simple low temperature heat treatment.  UNS designation is K93120.

A stable low carbon martensitic structure provides good fabricability in the solution treated or annealed condition and can be readily welded.

In aerospace applications it is used for parts requiring high strength with toughness in the final heat treated condition and is Consumable Electrode Melted for cleanliness to AMS 2300 quality requirements

Both the annealed and solution treated conditions create a stable martensitic structure and would normally be performed by the producing mill.

Typical age hardening of fabricated parts is performed at 900° F for 4 to 6 hours at temperature to develop the high strength final condition.
