My Dad
My dad isn’t the kind of hero who wears a cape or charges into battle. He doesn’t have superpowers or fly around saving the world. Instead, he does simple things, everyday things. I see a man who tries to make our lives a little bit better every single day. He doesn’t talk much about it and never makes a big deal of all that he does. To me, those things make him a hero.

Every morning, he wakes up before the sun rises. I hear his footsteps as he moves around the house, careful not to wake us. He makes coffee, and I can smell it from my room. He likes it strong and black. He always tells me, “Real coffee doesn’t need sugar.” By the time I’m up, he’s already in his little home office, typing away on his computer.

My dad is a computer engineer. He spends hours in front of his computer. His face is sometimes lit by the glow of lines of code I don’t understand. He builds programs and solves problems for companies that need his expertise. Sometimes, he shows me his work, excitedly explaining some new “features” he added. To me, it all just looks like numbers and symbols. But to him, it’s a world he creates piece by piece. I can see the pride in his eyes every time he finishes a project.

I think the part I admire most is his patience. When he works, he’s completely focused, his fingers typing away at code that looks like a foreign language to me. Even when he’s tired, I see him dig deep, keep going, and find solutions. His dedication is like a quiet fire, steady and constant.

Even though his work keeps him busy, he never misses anything important to me. Whether it’s a school event, a debate competition, or even a small presentation, he always shows up, right in the front row. Once, I had a debate competition, and I was so nervous I thought I’d faint. But then I saw him in the crowd, nodding at me, and I knew I could do it.

My dad might not be perfect. Sometimes, he gets so focused that he forgets little things, like where he put his phone or what day it is. But he always listens. And somehow, just having him there makes everything feel okay.

He’s my dad, a computer engineer with rough hands from long hours of typing. And in my eyes, that’s more than enough. I’m so lucky to have him, my dad!
