The story stems from a remote Bengal village of British colonial India and focuses on societal reform through primary education in undivided Bengal during pre-independence era.

Here, the primary character, a "Maulavi" in local dialect (Muslim priest), secular by heart, planed to start a primary school for the young buds of the village. He took the initiative and approached the "Zamindar", or the land lord of the village to help him to built up the minimal infrastructure. Within a short while, the village saw it's first school, abuzz with recitations of the children - "ekey chandra, duiye -pokkyo.....". Children started coming to school with great spirit and enthusiasm.Things went well for some time with pretty interaction among themselves but then the regular attendance started to be fall gradually and then drastically.

The story progresses on screen portraying different hues of life - facets of family bondages - social responsibilities and ultimately inciting a continual craving to know what would happen next?

Could Maulavi Master be able to regularise the attendance of the students, despite crossing the social barriers? Or, he would loose his cherished objective to educate his village kids whom he wished to see as the bright future generation of the soil?

Watch this movie that unfolds the story of "MAULAVI MASTER", his undaunted, open-minded, heartiest involvement for imparting basic education among the village kids.

This short film may shade the light on socio-economic hindrance that to be analysed and yet to be solved so far, for developing our nation till today.

The story teller is Shri Anil Kumar Poddar, whose golden memories of childhood tied the events one by one, flowed throughout. The key roles are played by some of the legendary film personalities, Shri Paran Bandopadhyay, Shri Arun Guha Thakurata, etc. and Smt.Jyotsna Majumder and with many promising child actors. The symphony of Tagore "Megher kole rod heseche.." was tuned with enchantic voice of Smt.Srabani Saha.
