At the center of the book stands Divine Wisdom, described as a gift given by God, more precious than kingship and wealth, a light that enables human beings to live righteously and to exercise just rule; the author speaks of the grave responsibility of those in authority if they do not seek and live according to Wisdom. The book also rereads the history of Israel and the saving interventions of God, to show that Wisdom is always present, guiding and protecting the righteous, while at the same time exposing the absurdity and danger of idolatry; in this way, it makes clear the justice and faithfulness of God toward the people.
